The Potential Lunatics are a Long Beach, CA based teenage brother and sister alternative/punk band. At a young age they have accomplished a lot! They are Daisy Rock Guitars artists, 2013 "40 Under 40" award winners, TEDx speakers, and professional lunatics.

“With such an impressive career already, you would think The Potential Lunatics are a wellspring of wisdom for would-be musicians – and you’d be absolutely right” - Chantel Donnan, MusicInPress

The Potential Lunatics take cues from Bratmobile, Bikini Kill, Nirvana, Babes In Toyland, X Ray Spex, The Dollyrots, Patti Smith, The Runaways, The Adverts, Sex Pistols, Ramones, The Damned, and Devo.

“The young sibling team of Emma and Isaac Simons-Araya (on vocals/guitar and drums, respectively) demonstrated that passion can be conveyed with the most stripped-down of arrangements. There were no keys, no bass, no second guitarist, and nothing seemed to be missing” – Scott Feinblatt, OC Weekly

While critiquing our culture from the perspective of a young woman, Emma Simons-Araya (guitar, vocals) sarcastically sings about Sylvia Plath, playground scabs, doing the dishes, and femininity. Her voice and stage presence has been compared to Karen O, Courtney Love, and Brody Dalle. Isaac Simons-Araya (drums, vocals) murders his drum set with a slick face and forearms working like Keith Moon and Animal the Muppet combined. The Potential Lunatics have been acknowledged by many in the music business as hardworking, young, professional punks, wowing audiences with their music and captivating stage presence since 2008 (at ages 10 and 12).

“The Potential Lunatics bring originality with their mixture of sweet childhood adolescent references and punk rock delivery.” – Abeni Moreno, Bitch Magazine

They have played many venues including: The Grammy Museum, The Troubadour, The Smell, The Queen Mary, The Observatory, Orange County Fair, Aquarium of the Pacific, & The Crocodile Cafe. And events like SXSW, Zombie Walk Long Beach, Grrrl Fair, Ladyfest L.A., Ladyfest IE, First Fridays Long Beach,

Anaheim Art Walk, Green is Greater Long Beach Festival, Al Borde's Escuela de Rock, and many more.

They are college favorites around the US, receiving airplay from West to East coast. They have performed and are on rotation at CSULB, CSUF, SCAD, Claremont College, Long Beach City College, CSUSB, Cerritos College, and more.

The Potential Lunatics released their first underground and grungy EP "Eating Paste" January 2009. Their first record "Well Trained Youngsters" was released June 2011.

Their second album "Dizzy Spells and Garden Talk" was released August 2014 and is available on iTunes, Spotify, Amazon, and Google Play.
